VIVIAN KATHERINE APPOLONIA LANGENFELD Peacefully, on October 11, 2009, Vivian Langenfeld (nee Rentz) passed away at the age of 79. Vivian will be dearly missed by her husband Frederich of 52 years and by her two beloved sons, Michael (Erin) and Todd (Cookie, Jeffrey and Christina). She will also be missed by her two grandchildren, Desiree and Sydni who brought great joy to Vivian's life. She also leaves to mourn her siblings, Leonard Rentz, Gloria Field, Bernice McGuire, Pearl Hodnett, Virginia Komher (Andrew), Gwen Lammert (Frank), Wayne Rentz, and Edgar Rentz (Valerie), and many nieces and nephews. Vivian was predeceased by her parents Gustav and Ida Rentz and her brother Gerald Rentz. Vivian was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on February 25, 1930. Being the eldest daughter of ten siblings Vivian provided much support to the Rentz clan. Married to Fred in 1957 they moved to Vancouver and then on to Los Angeles before returning to Winnipeg to raise their family. Vivian was a proud homemaker and raised her children in a very caring and loving home. Vivian was active for a time with the Transcona Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. As a member of the church choir she had a beautiful soprano voice and would often perform solos. Vivian was a skilled seamstress and made much of her own clothing as well as bridesmaid dresses and adorable outfits for her children. Throughout the years Vivian enjoyed many activates which included 5 and 10 pin bowling, fishing, darts and family get-togethers. The family had many memorable vacations which included road trips in Canada and the United States, and visiting friends and relatives at the lake. Once her husband retired they took a dream vacation to Germany to visit their homeland and to meet many of their relatives for the very first time. Vivian had an incredibly sharp mind, a unique personality and a wicked sense of humour. In the latter years she faced great adversity but remained courageous and strong willed to her last breath. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Concordia Hospital who made every effort to ensure that Vivian's last hours were comfortable. A celebration of her life will be held at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street, October 15, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
