WALTER RONALD WLOCK April 13, 1919 - October 12, 2009 It is with profound sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear beloved Peepa on October 12, 2009, at the St. Boniface Hospital with family at his side at the age of 90 years old. Predeceased by his parents Anton and Mary, brothers John, Joe, Frank, Stanley and more recently his brother Tom, he is survived by his youngest brother Felix of Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Walter will be deeply missed and actively celebrated by his wife of 60 years, Pearl (née Zanyk); sons, Anthony (Chantal), Ronald (Karen), James; his five grandchildren (Nicolas, Mélissa, Dimitri, Natalie and Graham) and extended family in both Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Born in Jedburgh, Saskatchewan, it is there that Walter spent his early years as a farmhand with his six brothers before enlisting for four and a half years in the Air Force as a mechanic. After the Second World War, Walter decided to leave the farm and move to Winnipeg, the only one of the seven brothers to do so. Shortly thereafter, he settled down with his wife Pearl and his new job as an industrial safety equipment salesman for MacKay Morton, where he worked for 38 years. While raising his family with his devoted wife, Pearl, Walter engaged in many activities linked to his being an avid collector and passionate hobbyist. Walter remained a true country boy. With this spirit and his attributes of hard work and talent, he achieved many of his great personal successes, namely, car restoration, particularly a 1929 Model A Ford Phaeton, and his most major work, the construction of a log house at The Patch. For him, these represented a throwback to the ways of old through which he was able to honour and pay tribute to his upbringing. Throughout his journey, with Pearl's special love and care, Walter lived a full and rich life. He will be remembered for his commitment to his family, his ever present joviality, his good humour and inclination to jokes, his ability to fix, restore or build almost anything, his personal traits of hard work, playfulness and generosity, his passions of nature and birds, his love of country music and his participation in the Antique Car Club. He will remain in the hearts of those he touched, and for all eternity in the projects he gave life to. Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held on Friday, October 16, at 1:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. A gravesite service will be held at a later date in Yorkton. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Walter's memory can be made to a charity of choice. The family wishes to thank the home care workers, doctors and nurses who helped take care of Walter in his final days. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU CO.
