Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEUGENIA PAWLUK September 29, 1925 - October 13, 2009 On Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Morley House Personal Care Home, Shoal Lake, Manitoba, Eugenia Pawluk, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 84 years. Mom was predeceased by her parents Alex and Anne Wonitowy, her beloved husband of fifty-three years, Mike, in 1999, an infant son Lane Henry, siblings Leonard and Zane Wonitowy and Muriel Silewich. She leaves to mourn her passing, daughter Penny Douglas (Bruce), Harold Pawluk (Elizabeth), daughter Kimberley Selinger (Gerry), grandchildren Michael, Kristen, Ryan, Catherine, Grant, Christopher, Ben and Nathan, great-grandchildren Ethan and Brodie, her sisters Olive Semaniuk, Nydia Kostiuk, sisters-in-law Barbara Wonitowy, Margaret Sotas, Marie Pawluk, Theresa Pawluk, Pearl Pawluk, and Helen Pawluk. She leaves to mourn numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was born and raised in the Rossburn area. When Mom was thirteen years old she memorized and recited the Book of John from the New Testament in order to attend a camp in Gimli, MB. At her 80th birthday celebration she was still able to recite the verses. She took her Grade 11 by correspondence and attained high marks in the provincial examinations. She completed her high school by taking her grade 12 in Angusville, MB. On August 1, 1945 Mom married Mike Pawluk in Birtle, Manitoba and three days later they left for Windsor, Ontario where Dad returned to work. Soon thereafter they returned home and settled into farming. Mom then attended Normal School in Winnipeg and received her teaching certificate. She taught grades one to eight for ten years at the one room schools of Coloncy, Mohyla, and Clarke schools. When her son Harold was born she stopped teaching to stay at home to raise her family and help Dad on the farm. Mom always kept abreast of current affairs, especially anything related to politics in Canada and the United States. She loved to garden and every year she would say I am not going to plant so much this year. But to no avail, each year she would have at least two or three gardens. Mom was an avid Blue Jays fan and watched all their games during baseball season. Mom had a wonderful sense of humour, and despite various challenges in her life and health adversities in her later life she always maintained a positive attitude. She truly demonstrated how one's attitude can determine one's happiness and fulfillment in life. What a wonderful legacy she has left for her children. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at the Rossburn Community Church with Russell Andrew officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 0S6, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6, or to a charity of one's choice. Braendle-Bruce Funeral Service of Russell, Manitoba in care of arrangements. (204) 773-2747

Aunt Eugenia was a wonderful aunt and friend. My brothers and I loved visiting her and Uncle Mike. In latter years we enjoyed the company of our cousins: Penny, Harold and Kim. What a wonderful loving family they all were. Uncle Mike, Aunt Eugenia and their children are amonst my dearest and favourite relatives. What happy memories I have of all of you in my heart. Be cheered in that your parents dearly loved you and have so positively touched the lives of all of us who knew them. With love, Sonia Opleta (Silewich), niece and cousin - Posted by: Sonia Opleta(Silewich) (Family) on: Oct 16, 2009
