CECILE FLORENCE BARKWELL-RAMSEY Cecile Cele Florence Barkwell-Ramsey of Grants Pass, Oregon. Passed away Wednesday October 7, 2009, at her home with her children by her side. A celebration of her life was held Monday October 12th at Stephens family chapel in Grants Pass. Condolences may be sent to www.stephensfc.com. Cecile was born February 24th, 1928 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Harriet and Austin Moffat Barkwell. She attended Grovers Elementary School, Robert H. Smith Middle School and St. Mary's Academy in Winnipeg. She worked as a cashier at local theatres and as a clerk at Bairds Drug Store, where she met William Alexander Kenner whom she married. She worked at the T. Eaton Co. until the birth of the first of their three children. They then moved to Southern California where William Kenner passed away. She later met and married her second husband Harold Mitchell they moved to Norwalk, California where they had two children. The family moved to Grants Pass, Oregon in 1973. Harold Mitchell died in 1980. Cecile worked at the Galice Store, Pete and Gene's and the Hideaway Restaurants in Merlin, Oregon where she met Wilbur Arnold Ramsey whom she married in Richmond, Canada. Together they enjoyed gardening, their home, and a wonderful train trip across Canada. Arnie died on March 16, 2009. Cecile enjoyed travelling, camping, fishing, home decorating, gardening, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, shopping, dining out, going to the movies and Sunday gatherings with her family. Survivors include her daughters, Linda Yates of Scapoose, Oregon, Leslie Bolan, Victoria Poague and Dani Smith all of Grants Pass; a son, Tim Mitchell of Grants Pass; 12 grand-children and 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Bee Connell of Seal Beach, CA, Pat Howe of Vancouver, BC, and Vicky Carswell of Surrey, BC. She was preceded in death by her parents: Austin and Harriet Barkwell; her brothers, Fred, George, Bill and Ted; her sisters, Peggy Malloy and Joan Gleeson, and one grandson David Brian Mitchell of Medford, Oregon.
