ANDREW (ANDY) PETERSON
Born: May 22, 1956
Date of Passing: Oct 08, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANDREW (ANDY) PETERSON Suddenly and too soon our gentle brother and loving uncle, Andy Peterson, departed this world and family on October 8, 2009 to join his parents in Heaven. He is now free of pain after a long battle with lung and heart disease. Left to cherish warm and so many fun memories are his sister Kristine (Rick) Kowalski and brother Pat (Carol) Peterson - nephews and nieces, Lee (Cindy), Corey (Korrie), Kelly (Elly) Kowalski; Lenny, Harry and Hannah Peterson; great-nephews and nieces, Ryley, Keenan, Cade and Kennedy Kowalski. Andy was born in Gimli on May 22, 1956 to Harry and Flo Peterson. He commercial-fished for over 25 years - starting with Dad as a fisherman's helper before getting his own licence. Although health issues forced Andy's early retirement from fishing, he stayed busy - helping his family as needed - always there for Mom and Dad to help them cope in their golden years. He was also there for his sister Kris and brother Pat when we needed him. Andy loved animals and children - and they loved him back. He enjoyed his walks with his dogs (first Beauty and later Maggie), as well as his cat Tinker. He could be seen regularly out with his pets in South Beach - making many friends on his travels, always ready with a smile and a kind word. His dedication and love for his pets was just one of Andy's special charms. He was also the best uncle anyone could ask for! He loved to tease or play a practical joke on his nephews, Lee, Corey, Kelly and Lenny - always generous and lots of fun with a great sense of humour. When Hannah and Harry came along, Uncle Andy was so proud and loved being part of their daily routine - driving them to Day Care or simply spending time listening to their stories - and of course he could not resist teasing them as well. We could always count on a big hug and some good-natured teasing from Uncle Andy! Andy - our beloved brother and uncle - we will all miss your gentle, quiet ways - your sharp wit and practical jokes - your peace signs and big grin. You left us so soon - We know that you are now free of the pain that haunted you as your spirit continues to shine (and tease) as you join Mom and Dad - until we meet again... In keeping with Andy's wishes, a private graveside service and celebration of his life has already taken place in Gimli. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gimli Humane Society in Andy's memory. Thanks to all who loved and cared for Andy as we do. Peace and Love Brother! Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements.
