DONALD BERNARD BROWN It is with heavy hearts that the family of Donald Bernard Brown announces his peaceful passing on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the age of 77 years old at the St. Boniface Hospital. Don was predeceased by his childhood sweetheart and loving wife, Anne Marie in 1994. Don is survived by his four loving children, Paul (Karen), Gordon (Dixie), Craig and Darla. He is also survived by his many grandchildren, Payton, Matthew, Jessica, Hailey, Breanna, Cassandra, Rebecca and Connor - plus many great-grandchildren. Don is also survived by three sisters, Marie (Roy), Helen (Barry) and Elaine (Allan), and many nephews and nieces. Don was born on April 24, 1932 on a farm in Port Hill, PEI where he helped his father tend the farm. At a very young age, the call of the west enticed him to move to Winnipeg, where he started in banking. Dad had many jobs over his life and was also a business owner, when he finally retired from Manitoba Housing in 1994. After Anne passed away, Don retired and moved to Winnipeg Beach where many happy times were spent with family and friends. He was also fortunate enough to make many friends in Mazatlan during his winter stays there. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 1160 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. The family wishes to extend its sincere thanks to The Palliative Care Program and nurse Jay, and to the Palliative Care Unit at the St. Boniface Hospital.
