NICHOLAS (NICK) MACHULA December 11, 1915 - October 14, 2009 With family at his side, Nick passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Tache Centre at the age of 93 years. Nick is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Debbie (Gord Irek) and Cindy (Mike) Lewkiw and nephews, David (Shirley) Machula and Alan (Susan) Ziemski and niece Lesia (Gary) Smith; brothers-in-law, Johnny (Jeannette) Matwiiw, Joe (Pauline) Matwiy, Mike (Arlene) Matwiy; sisters-in-law, Olive Nosaty, Anne Hamlin, Phyllis Wengrowich and Mae Husak. He was predeceased by his wife Stephie on October 29, 2008, brother John (Anne) Machula, sister Mary (Joe) Ziemski and niece Julie Johnson. Born in Vita, Manitoba, Nick left the family homestead for Winnipeg to attend Provencher School, St. Paul's High School, Wesley College and then the University of Manitoba where he earned his dairy science diploma. After graduating he worked in Winnipeg for Standard Dairies. He then joined the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War and served at CFB Suffield as a meteorologist. After the war he joined Canada Post where he worked until he retired in 1979. Nick joined the choir at St. Vladimir Olga Ukrainian Catholic Church where he met his wife Stephie. Nick and Stephie married in 1952, had two daughters and spent the rest of their years together in St. Boniface. The family would like to thank the staff at Tache Centre for their kind care and compassion. Divine Liturgy (Mass) will be held on Monday, October 19, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 390 Marion Street. Interment of the cremated remains will take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.
