CATERINA SCARPINO It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Caterina Scarpino on Sunday, October 11, 2009 in Medicine Hat, AB. Her greatest joy was her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Carmen on May 18, 1982; her daughter Joanne; son-in-law August and her brother Tommaso. Caterina is survived by her daughter Mary (Frank) and sons, Tony and Frank (Rosina); 11 grand-children, 14 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Concetta, Francesca and Josephine, along with special nieces and nephews. Caterina was born on December 7, 1919 in Amato, Italy and came to Canada in 1957. She moved to Medicine Hat in 1983 to be closer to her family and resided there until her passing. A very special thank you for the excellent care bestowed upon our mother by all the special people around her, the nurses and staff at Riverview Care Centre and her doctors, Dr. Jeraj and Dr. Chibitarou. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 12013 STN BRM B, Toronto, ON M7Y 2L3. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 19 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. with a viewing one half hour prior to the service, with Father Sam Argenziano officiating.
