AGNES PAULS (nee PENNER) Our dear Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 101 years with her family by her side at the Grace Hospice. Agnes was born in Muntau, Russia March 12, 1908 to Abram and Susanne Penner. After five years of Girls School she completed three years of Agriculture College. In 1935 she married Dietrich Pauls with whom she had two children, Lily and Werner. In 1945 her husband was taken as a Prisoner of War and was never heard from again. In 1949 Agnes immigrated to Canada with her children and mother. She spent her entire working career in Canada at Health Sciences Centre. She was an active member and volunteer of the First Mennonite Church since 1949. Along with reading and cooking, gardening was her passion and she always prided herself with producing the earliest and largest tomatoes. Agnes was predeceased by two sisters and is survived by her children, Lily (Victor) Loewen, Werner (Linda) Pauls; grandchildren, Peter and Cheryl Loewen, Paul and Leanna Loewen, Mark Loewen and Marissa Becker, Rob Loewen and Jana DeGrave, Rick and Loralee Pauls, Chris and Julianne Pauls, Ryan Pauls; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Anna Andres (Cornelius), Anna Pauls and Katja Schoenke. The family appreciates the compassion, dedication and care shown by the wonderful staff at Grace Hospice. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 21 at 11.00 a.m. at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave., Winnipeg, with Rev. Franz Wiebe officiating. Following a reception at the church, interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery.
