Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEUGENE DERHAK It is with deep sorrow and regret that the family announces the passing of Eugene Henry Derhak, aged 86 years, at the Concordia Hospital on October 17, 2009. Family was at his side. Eugene is survived by his children, Janice (Steve) Gerylo, Bob (Debbie), Randy (Carol), James (Margot), Bonnie (Mark) Semeniuk; grandchildren, Randy Jr., Stacey, Sean, Kathleen, Andrea, Ashley, Colin, Breanne and Bobby; brother Arthur (Emily), sister-in-law Ruth Derhak and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Dad was predeceased by our mother, Katherine (Kaye), in 2001. Dad was born September 20, 1923 in Fishing River, Manitoba. He attended school in the Fishing River area and in Dauphin. On November 23, 1946 Dad married Katherine Spikaluk. He worked for Canada Safeway and Westfair Foods for many years. Dad loved fishing at Waterhen, camping at Manipogo and was an exceptional cross country skier. He loved playing cards, and playing tricks and practical jokes on family and friends. Dad developed Alzheimer's Disease in November 2002 and moved to Winnipeg to be cared for by Janice and Steve in December 2003. In August 2006 he moved to River East Personal Care Home where he resided until his passing. The family would like to thank the staff at River East Personal Care Home for their care over the years. We would also like to thank Dr. Caners and the staff of N1 South at the Concordia Hospital for their kindness and care. A celebration of Dad's life will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home. If friends so desire, donations in Dad's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba or to a charity of your choice. We love you Dad, and we will miss you. Say hi to Mom for us!
