CARMEN BAYANIN Surrounded by family and friends, Carmen Bayanin passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre on October 16, 2009 at the age of 65. Carmen was predeceased by her beloved father - Ricardo and mother Sixta. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Benjamin, son Bradley (Nancy), daughter Cheryl and several siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews and friends living in the Philippines, U.S and Germany. In 1973, Carmen immigrated from the Philippines to Winnipeg, MB to join Benjamin, her husband of 36 years. She was a kind, generous and caring woman who made everyone around her feel special and loved. Carmen graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Mapua Institute of Technology in the Philippines. After immigrating to Winnipeg, she worked at Phillips Paint Limited for about 22 years as a research chemist. The family is very grateful to all of Carmen's health care providers and respite workers. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Health Sciences Centre GD-5 ward and at Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care Unit for their care and compassion. Lamay will be held on Thursday, October 22 and Friday, October 23 from 6:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. at Thomson In The Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg, MB. A funeral mass will take place 9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 24 at St. Vital Parish, 1629 Pembina Highway. A reception is to follow at Thomson In The Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carmen's memory to the Health Sciences Centre Foundation MS1 - Thorlakson Building, 820 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1R9 or to Riverview Health Centre Foundation, 1 Morley Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4.
