CRAIG HOLDING H 1956 - 2009 With profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of our dear brother and uncle (George) Craig Holding, affectionately known as H , on October 14, 2009. Mourning his loss are his sister Norma (husband Doug Carswell), brother John (wife Mary) and special nieces and nephew Elizabeth, Ann and Michael. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Mibs and Bert Holding. Craig graduated from Grant Park High School in 1974 and recently enjoyed attending the school's 50th reunion, where he met many of his old friends and teachers. After school, he attended the University of Manitoba, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, which provided him with many years of great fun and lasting friendships. After a varied career, Craig was working with the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires at the time of his death. His family and friends will remember Craig for his incredible memory he was a fountain of knowledge in many fields. He was a music buff, with AC/DC at the top of his personal list. He was so happy to have attended a recent concert to see his favourite band once again. Craig's passion was sports. He had an incredible knowledge of every aspect of most sports. He grew up playing hockey, baseball and football at the River Heights Community Club, finishing his football career with the Fort Garry Lions. Craig was especially a great student of the game of baseball; his love of the sport and for young people made him a wonderful coach. He was so proud when he successfully co-coached the Fort Garry Peewees to the City and Provincial championships in 2003. Craig also loved professional sports, and looked forward to the start of each new football and hockey season. Above all, he loved his baseball and his Boston Red Sox. Most important to Craig was the love of his family and the many wonderful friendships he formed over the years. He looked forward to special times with Kak, Diane and the kids, and to the good times with his many buddies at the Pemby. Our thanks and gratitude go to all those who were such a big part of his life especially in the past year as he recovered from his stroke. He always looked forward to his weekly breakfasts with Whitey, his hamburger helper meals and going to movies with friends. Craig was a very dear brother, a special uncle and a wonderful friend. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations in Craig's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, or to a charity of your choice.
