Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES PATRICK DONOHOE August 27, 1921 - October 17, 2009 It is with deepest sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of James Patrick Donohoe, with his son at his side on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the age of 88 at the Betel Home in Selkirk. He will be forever missed by his beloved wife of 60 years Elsie, his son and namesake James Thomas (Margaret) and his special and much loved granddaughters Kelly (Jason) and Ty Boyd and Krista (Eric) Wood. Jim is also survived by his stepchildren Barry (Carol) Larose of Thunder Bay, ON, Jack Larose of Selkirk, MB, Isabelle (Bill) Owczar of Peterborough, ON, Richard (Carol) Larose of Edmonton, AB and Betty Larose of Winnipeg, MB along with their families. Jim was born, raised and remained a life long resident of Petersfield. He was the third born to the late John and Racy Donohoe. Jim was raised on a dairy farm (Donohoe Farms) and it was there that he discovered his love for animals, the land and farming. Jim was proud to pass his knowledge and love of farming onto his son Tom and until only a few years ago he was helping Tom in whatever capacity he could. Jim semi-retired from farming in 1981 and together with Elsie in 1983 they began to enjoy traveling to Texas for the winter months, which they were fortunate to be able to do for 18 years. Once harvest was over he looked forward to going to Texas to see his friends from previous years and meet new ones from all over Canada and the United States. Jim was a very quiet, gentle, caring man who became a friend to all he met. He was always there to lend a helping hand whenever needed. He had a positive attitude and always managed to find the good in each and everyone he met. His family was the world to him and he loved all special occasions, as the family would be together. In addition to the immediate family Jim is survived by his sister Maureen Pruden of Petersfield, sister-in-law Ellen Donohoe of Brandon and numerous nephews, nieces and their families. Jim was predeceased by his parents John and Racy Donohoe, his brothers Dennis and Blake, sister-in-law Dorothy Donohoe, brother-in-law Charles Pruden and stepsons Raymond and David Larose. Jim will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure to know him. We will cherish the wonderful memories we have of him and he will forever be in our hearts. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday October 22, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Annes Roman Catholic Church, Petersfield MB with Father Dado Parrenas officiating. Interment to follow in the Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be six of his nephews, Desmond, Patrick, Mark, Gary and John Donohoe and Kenneth Pruden. The family would like to thank the very caring and compassionate staff of the Betel Home for their excellent care of Jim these past two years. A special thank you to Jamie Donohoe and Krista Kuly for their special attention to ensuring his comfort in his final days. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
