Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUGLAS KEITH HANLEY January 15, 1957 October 16, 2009 Peacefully, after a last music party in his honour, Doug joined his sister Caryn and father Donald. Doug will always be lovingly remembered by his family, mother Norma, siblings, Bob and Brenda and their families, and many other nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, by his multitude of friends and helpers and by his special friend Kathie. Doug started school at the Kinsman School at age five and moved to Kirkfield School in 1968. He worked at Versatech for 26 years. He attended Deer Lodge Church for many years in the special Sunday school class. With the support of Hope Center, Doug moved into supervised living where he met many new friends and led a life full of good companionship and social activities, outings and trips. He met more new friends at Rainbow Walk and the Baby Boomer Café. Doug's love of music and dancing made him a natural performer and he shared this at any opportunity. He was an avid bowler and loved movies (especially Star Wars). In his retirement Doug was able to combine his love of people and music by working as an assistant music therapist at St. Amant School. Doug's large and supportive family was always important to him and he made sure all birthdays were celebrated. Doug was a special person in the greatest sense of the word, living life to the fullest and lighting up the lives of all who new him with his smile, charm, talents, and gracious good nature. Doug loved any kind of party. You are invited to say goodbye to Doug on October 24, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Baby Boomer Café, 35 Nurgitz Bay, Winnipeg, MB, R2V 4M8.
