CAROL ANNE ARNASON
Born: Oct 15, 2009
Date of Passing: Dec 06, 1947
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCAROL ANNE ARNASON Our hearts heavy with sorrow, we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Carol Anne Arnason (nee Resch), aged 61 years, dearly beloved wife of Glen Arnason, at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, Manitoba, on October 15, 2009. Carol was born on December 6, 1947 in Winnipeg. She attended Chapman Elementary School and graduated from Charleswood Collegiate. Carol's first employment after graduating from high school was as a receptionist at Hurtig Furriers in downtown Winnipeg. She then took a position with the Rural Municipality of Charleswood as an office clerk until her move to Ashern. As a child Carol would travel with her family to visit relatives residing in Ashern not knowing this was the beginning of her destiny. When she got a little older she attended dances in Ashern and it was there she met Glen whom she would marry July 8, 1972. Carol's first job in Ashern was at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Then, alongside Glen, she worked at Arnason Funeral Home handling the books and managing the day to day operations. Carol still had time to help with a variety of community affairs in Ashern. She was a tireless volunteer, sat on many committees including the Ashern Centennial Hall, the Fun Fair and acted as treasurer for the Ashern Bingo. Wherever help was needed Carol was one of the first to offer assistance. Her generosity was experienced by many people in her community whenever they had misfortunes of their own. Carol appreciated life's simple things; a walk, warm fragrant tomatoes, sunsets, flowers, bingo, crossword puzzles, board games, movies, dancing and laughter. Her love of animals was evident by her adoption of a wayward kitten and her devotion to her little dogs. She donated generously to the Humane Society. She had a beautiful, extensive and enviable collection of Carousel Horses which she displayed in every corner of her home for visitors and family to enjoy. Her books could fill a library. She was a voracious reader, even enjoying the good ones twice. Carol leaves to mourn her husband, Glen of 37 years, sister Beverley (Henry) of Winnipeg, brother Kenneth (Cheryl) of Winnipeg, and sister Sharon (John) of Brandon, her mother-in-law Hertha Arnason of Ashern, brother-in-law Chuck Arnason and sister-in-law Leanne Arnason of Winnipeg and her many nieces and nephews, Leah (Kevin) Spooner, Cory Oczerklewicz, Kara Oczerklewicz, Derek Resch, Breanne Resch, Jackie Camier, Aubrey Arnason, Tyler Arnason, one great nephew Kaden Spooner and many other relatives and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents Bernard and Violet Resch, her grandparents Pete and Margaret McMillan, her very close friends Sandra Sanders, Shirley Johnson and Al and Lou Dowsett. Prayer service will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ashern, MB. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at the Ashern Centennial Hall with Pastor Bill Watson and Pastor Gary Russell officiating. Interment to follow in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Gilbert and Pat Geisler, Gary and Stella Sveistrup, Russ and Linda Keeler, Gary and Pat Wahl, Jean Postlethwaite, Ernie Johnson, Dennis Geisler, Al McMillan, Patricia Klippenstein, Ken and Shirley Strand. Glen and family would like to thank Dr. Rivi, Gypsumville EMS paramedics Alivia and Alicia, Medical Investigator, Heide Epp, John and Karen Gray, Constable Matt Quallie of Ashern R.C.M.P. Detachment, the Lakeshore Hospital personnel and all the people who have supported us through this very difficult time. Dear Glen and family, Thinking of you with prayers and deepest sympathy at your great and sudden loss. Too soon, and unfair. All the time I spent at Ashern and at Silver Bay in my childhood as part of our "clan" is etched in my being and heart always; no matter how many years have passed I think of you with love. Believe your beloved Carol will always be with you and hopefully that will bring you some comfort now. With love and prayers, Cousin Lenore - Posted by: Lenore Clemens (Family) on: Oct 22, 2009
