JOHN WESLEY GLIDDON (JACK) December 29, 1935 - October 16, 2009 Peacefully, on October 16, 2009, Jack passed away at the age of 73, at the Victoria General Hospital. Jack is survived by his loving and devoted wife Bernice; daughter Shannon; son Shawn (Carla); granddaughter Sarah; sisters, Eileen (Bruce), Elsie; sisters-in-law, Esther, Joyce, Shirley (Octave), Lu (Oril), Bev (Mo), Donna (Ted), Linda (Neil), and brothers-in-law, Orest, Bill (Sheila), and Jim (Nancy). Jack was born in The Pas, Manitoba and later moved to Winnipeg where he continued his education and started to build his career. In 1962 he gained employment with Canada Post where he gave 35 years of committed service. In retirement, Jack enjoyed friends, family, golfing and traveling with his wife, where they vacationed in The Maritimes, California, and Calgary. Throughout his lifetime Jack loved to laugh and his vibrant laugh will live on in the hearts and memories of many friends and family. The family would like to thank the caring staff at both Vista Park Lodge and Unit 4 at the Victoria General Hospital. Much appreciation goes to George Burfoot who was Jack's best friend and a great support to the family. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2009 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). In accordance with Jack's wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of MB, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
