Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN DUCHEMINSKY (nee BELITSKY) With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mom, Helen Ducheminsky, on Sunday, October 18, 2009. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard, in 1994. Remaining to cherish her memory are her children, Ken (Joan), Louise (Bob), Kevin (Kathy) and Bernadette (Bob). She is greatly missed by her grandchildren, Tyler, Tara, Jordan, Bradley, Laurel, Nicholas, Carly, Thomas, Reid and Megan. She is also survived by sisters, Adeline and Isabelle (Edmund) and brother Lawrence and sisters-in-law Elsie and Joey. Helen was born on September 29, 1929 on a farm in Saskatchewan. She grew up in a large and loving family where she learned the value of hard work and faith in God. She met her future husband, Leonard, at a dance and they were married in June, 1956. Helen stayed at home to raise her four children during their early years. The family moved to Winnipeg in the summer of 1971. She worked in retail and volunteered at the Victoria Hospital until she retired in 1994. There were a number of happy family trips to visit extended family members across the prairies. She and Leonard also travelled to Hawaii, Florida, Vegas and Mexico. Although she lost her husband, Leonard In 1994 she remained married to him in spirit and we take joy in the fact that they are together again. Shortly after Leonard's passing, Helen moved to her new condominium. There she made a number of new and dear friends with whom she enjoyed playing cards, golfing, bowling, and trips to the casino. Mom was a kind and gentle spirit who always put family first. She was a talented cook, seamstress, gardener, and created a home where friends and family were always welcome and well-fed. She and Leonard were the core of our family gatherings and will continue to be so. She deeply cherished her grandchildren who were her pride and joy. Helen's children and grandchildren adored and loved her in return. She remained close to her brothers and sisters and their families and also had a number of long time and loyal friends. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the ICU staffs at the Victoria and St. Boniface General Hospitals. Their professionalism and efficiency along with their kindness and warmth at a difficult time were appreciated and will be remembered. Prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, 85 Kirkbridge Drive. Funeral liturgy will be held on Friday, October 23 at 1:00 p.m. also at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com
