Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryADELARD MORIER A beloved man of great kindness and integrity went to his heavenly home on October 19, 2009. Adélard Walter Morier was born at the St. Boniface Hospital August 16, 1916. He is our father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great friend. He joins his wife Helen (Murray), daughter Suzanne, son Terry and son-in-law Barry Warren. Ad was raised in St. Vital with his siblings working on the family business Morier Brothers Market Garden. Morier Avenue and Morier Park are legacies to this pioneer family. His brother and sisters have predeceased him. He is survived by his brother Bud Morier, son Ron (Wendy), daughters Pat Warren, Jan Morier and Dee Friesen (Lauren) and daughter-in-law Linda; twelve adoring grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren. He also had countless friends and former neighbours who kept in touch over the years. Ad worked with McGavin's Toastmaster for 44 years. During the Second World War he served at CFB Brandon as a chiropodist and troop escort. There he met the lovely Helen Murray and they wed in November, 1944, the first wedding in Ste-Marie Chapel where he remained a faithful parishioner all of his life. Throughout his life Dad was an avid athlete and sports fan, hunter and fisherman, wise gardener, a loyal member of the St. Vital Legion and a volunteer for many efforts, including the 1950 Flood. Dad lived in his home until a few years ago when he moved into Catherine Place. There he was treated royally by all and met a new best friend Léon Kenny with whom he swapped market garden stories and swept crib tournaments. They were often seen driving their scooters out to coffee row or racing down the hallway. We thank his caregivers, especially son Ron and daughter Dee who were constant doters, advisors and sidekicks. Ad has touched so many lives and his legacy of giving, humour and humility will live on. He is our hero and we will miss him forever. Undying thanks to the caring staff of Concordia Hospital and to his many friends living and working at Catherine Place. Ad Morier's life will be celebrated on Monday, November 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Chapel, No. 1 Hwy E. and Navin Road. Flowers most gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association 629 McDermot Avenue Winnipeg, R3A 1P6 Tel. (204) 774-5501 or the St. Vital Historical Society 600 St. Mary's Road Winnipeg, R2M 3L5.
