RONALD EDWARD BLOCK 1938 - 2009 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ron Block, on Sunday, October 18, 2009 with his family by his side. Ron passed away after a short battle with cancer. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 40 years, Jeanne; son David (Sheri); daughter Susan (Tyler Lindsay); mother Joyce Maxwell and numerous friends. He had a soft spot in his heart for his grandchildren, Jacob, Alexis, and Colton. He would have given anything to see them grow up. He is predeceased by his father Edward Block. Through the years, Ron was an integral part of his community. He was never one to sit on the sidelines - except maybe at a sporting event, though you could always hear him. He spent time as the: social convener at the St. Boniface Golf Club; manager of his son's hockey team; the president at Windsor C.C.; and treasurer of his bowling league. Ron loved puttering around the house, chatting with friends, traveling, golfing, and spending time at his Victoria Beach cabin. He will be remembered as a loving husband, a fantastic father and a devoted friend. He will always be missed. We would like to express our gratitude to the staff at Palliative Care St. Boniface Hospital. A special thanks to those who have been a source of comfort and support to Ron and us over the past two months. In keeping with Ron's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald Street. Entombment will take place on Monday, October 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Vital Cemetery.
