GWENDOLINE POWELL With peace and dignity on October 19, 2009 at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, Gwen Powell reached her journey's end. Born in Wales, while her family was on route to Canada, Gwen was raised at 88 Smithfield Ave. in the house her father built. With her mother, father, five sisters and brother, the family remained close-knit all their lives, with many Christmases, birthdays and other events celebrated together with music and laughter. Throughout her life Gwen enjoyed a variety of activities including tennis, dancing, cards, piano playing, singing, socializing and her winter home with Jack in McAllen, Texas. Gwen was predeceased by her parents Agnes and William, her brother and sisters Ann, Doris, Beatrice, Ruby, Ethel, Joe and her son Jack. She is survived by her son Greg of Ottawa, daughter Cynthia of Winnipeg, daughter-in-law Joan as well as grandchildren, Robert (Cheryl), David (Celine), Erick and Sylvie (Elliott). A joy for Gwen was also her great-grandchildren, Devlin, Kezra, Brianne and Amalyn. She will also be lovingly remembered by her extended family, many friends, neighbours. Gwen was kind, loving, generous of heart and spirit, affectionate, and had a wonderful sense of humour. There will be a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., October 23 at St. Martin-in-the-Fields, 160 Smithfield. The family would also like to thank the staff at the Convalescent Home for the care that was lovingly provided. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg. Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved and missed, forever dear. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 669 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0X4 783-7211 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsonfuneralchapel.com
