GLADYS CHAPMAN (nee WALTON) 1923 - 2009 Peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, Gladys passed away in her home on Tuesday, October 20. She was predeceased by her husband Jim in 1995. She is survived by her son Ron and his wife Brenda and their children, Carla (fiancé Andrew) and David (girlfriend Jill); daughter Lynda and her husband Don Collingridge and their children, Tiffany (fiancé Robert) and Jenna (fiancé John). Gladys was born and raised in Winnipeg. She worked at Canada Bread/McGavins where she met and later married her loving husband Jim. She enjoyed singing in her church choir and the Good Companions Choir, and playing in her handbell group The Dingalings. Her greatest source of pride and joy was her family. She was always an enthusiastic supporter of all her family's interests and activities. Thanks to Dr. R. Singer and the WRHA Palliative Care Program for their kind and loving care, and a special thanks to nurse Jay for making Mom's final days as comfortable as possible. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 22 at 11:00 a.m. St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Avenue, with Reverend Ian Mills officiating. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division or the charity of their choice.
