WILLIAM (BILL) BACON Bill passed away peacefully on October 16, 2009 in Winnipeg his 92nd year. Bill was predeceased by his mother Alice (Lupton) Bacon and his father Will Bacon, who were from Lancashire, England. Bill was the second of four brothers and was predeceased by his three brothers: Frank, Lloyd and Stanley. He is survived by Stanley's widow Essie Jane Bacon, of London, Ontario. Bill and Jane Morrison McDonald were married on July 4, 1942 and had two children, James McDonald Bacon (Carolyn) in Cambridge, Ontario and Nancy Jane Van De Mark (Paul) in Bremerton, Washington State, USA. Bill and Jane have three grandchildren: Jonathan Dean Bacon (Amy) in Fort Mill, South Carolina, and Alexander George Van De Mark (Grace) in Indianola, Washington and Elizabeth Jane Sluys (Marcel) in Orange County, California. Bill's beloved Jane died August 15, 1997 Jane and Bill were married for over 60 years and lived in London, ON, Kintore, ON, Sussex, NB, Fredericton, NB, Vancouver, BC, Richmond, BC, and Winnipeg, MB. These moves were brought about by Bill being a manufacturer's sales representative for shoe companies. Bill was a member of Windsor Masonic Lodge No. 138 (over 60 years), Scottish Rite and the Khartum Shrine 9101 Unit and the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, all in Winnipeg. He played at Pine Ridge Golf Club for over 20 years and was also a long standing member of AA. Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, with viewing for two hours prior to the service. Reception to follow at St. Andrews. Cremation will follow with interment in London, Ontario, at a later date. Pallbearers will be Zeno Scaletta, John Mazier, Gordon Davis, Cate Wittig, Dr. Arvind Kati and Laurie Foster. Flowers gratefully declined. Please send donations to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Salvation Army, Mennonite Central Committee, or the charity of your choice. Our Dad wanted to have the same poem that was in Mom's obituary included, as it told of their life together. What made us lovers in the long ago When we first met? Well I think I know The best in me, and the best in you. Found each other Because we know That always and always Since time began Our being partners Was part of God's plan.
