Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE PAKULAK (nee PEMKOWSKI) At 90 years of age, surrounded by her family, Rose Pakulak passed away peacefully, after a brief illness on October 21, 2009 at the Gimli Community Health Centre. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Rosemarie; granddaughters, Angie (Darryl) Smith, Andrea (Robert) Robichaud; grandsons, Cory Pakulak, Darcy Pakulak; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Brandy, Tyson, Alexander, Cody and Aiden; her sister Helen Borgford, lifelong friend, Olive Sielski and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Rose was predeceased by her husband, Nick, daughter-in-law Hazel, son-in-law Allan, son Peter, five brothers, and three sisters. Rose was born February 14, 1919 in Winnipeg Beach, MB to Leon and Mary Pemkowski. She grew up in a large and loving family where she learnt the value of hard work. In 1940, she married Nicholas Pakulak. Nick and Rose settled in Winnipeg Beach where they created a wonderful home, where the door was always open for friends and neighbours dropping by, almost daily, for afternoon tea and snacks. Rose loved family gatherings and was a wonderful cook, always making sure there was plenty to eat. Her donuts and perogies were legendary! Rose also loved to garden, crochet, play cards, bingo and always loved a good prank. Rose moved from her home to the Winnipeg Beach Lodge in 1989, where she resided for 18 years; moving to the Betel Home in Gimli in November 2007. She enjoyed her time at the Betel very much, especially playing cards with her friends. Baba's greatest joy was her grandchildren and later her great-grandchildren. Being born on Valentine's Day, she had the kindest heart and the most giving soul. She would give you the shirt off her back and loved to share whatever she could. Auntie Rosie to many, relatives or not, was a wonderful woman who made friends easily and kept them for her entire lifetime. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank the staff at the Betel Home and Gimli Hospital for the excellent care Rosie received. A special thank you to Dr. R. C. Patel for 35 years of dedicated care to Rosie. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 26, 2009, at 10:30 am in Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Hwy #9 and Lake Avenue, Winnipeg Beach, MB. Interment to follow at the Holy Rosary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cory Pakulak, Darcy Pakulak, Darryl Smith, Robert Robichaud, Frank Borgford and Jack Pemkowski. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Betel Foundation, P.O. Box 10, Gimli, MB, ROC 1BO. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. We love you Baba! Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
