BRUCE BERNARD SMITH April 6, 1937 October 22, 2009 Bruce passed with dignity, with his family at his side on October 22, 2009 at the Health Sciences Centre at 72 years of age. He will be remembered by his wife Linda of 48 years, his children Garry (Daphne), Cheryl (Steve), Bradley, Colleen (Todd) and Melanie (Rick); his grandchildren, Douglas, Corey, Erik, Crystal, Cherisse, Alysha, Kyle, Kevin and Ashtyn and his brother Denis (Linda). He is also survived by his brother Ted and sister Carol. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Shaylene Michelle in 1988. Bruce was a lifetime truck driver with a flawless Class 1 record employed with Kingsway Transport, Mulder Brothers and Bruce and Betty Rempel along with many others. He made many friends and enjoyed every minute of it. Bruce will always be remembered for his quick witted sense of humour and his collection of many frogs and penguins. He enjoyed his retirement years and took pride in his woodworking and tinkering around his yard - always making everything exceptionally perfect. His love for the outdoors was his greatest pleasure in life. Spending time in the country, bird-watching at his daughter Colleen's home always made him smile. The family would like to thank Dr. A. Fatoye of CancerCare, MB along with nurses and staff Robin, Jessie, Yu, Ogechi and Justin for the care they provided to Bruce. Special thank you to his daughter Cheryl and sister-in-law Linda - you both were Dad's rock throughout his battle with cancer. You definitely did have his back . Thank you. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 28 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler at Henderson Hwy. Viewing one half hour prior to service. Donations in Bruce's memory may be made to CancerCare, MB or Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
