MARY ENNIS FILSHIE On Friday, October 23, 2009, Mary Filshie passed away at the West Park Manor. She was 95 years old. Mary, an only child, was born in Glasgow, Scotland on April 26, 1914. Mary and her mother (Georgina) joined her father (John) in Winnipeg in 1919. The family built a home on McCreary Road, where Mary lived until she moved to the Shelmerdine Apartments in Charleswood about three years ago. She was predeceased by her father in 1957 and her mother in 1972. Mary's optimistic outlook on life and her caring for other people made her loved by all. This was evidenced by the many visitors she received while in the Grace Hospital and later at West Park Manor. Mary's friends appreciate the kindness and good care she received from the West Park Manor staff (1 South). They also appreciate the daily care provided by Mary's special friend, Elfie Martens. Mary was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1947 and for more than 60 years she was active in sharing her faith with others until illness prevented her from doing so. She had the strength to face her final days because of her strong confidence in Jesus' promise of the resurrection of those in the memorial tombs. She also looked forward to living on the earth under God's Kingdom where there will be no more suffering and tears. There will be a memorial service at the Kingdom Hall, 325 Wallasey Street, on Friday, October 30 at 2:00 p.m.
