Date of Passing: Oct 25, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE MARIE ALDRIDGE On Sunday, October 25, 2009 we lost a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and Heaven gained an angel. Anne Aldridge left us peacefully at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 88 years. Remaining to forever cherish Anne's memory are her son Chris (Ginny); daughters, Linda (Bruce), Shirley (Harry); grandchildren Jona, Tom, David and Brian; as well as great-grandchildren, Tomas, Kjerstin and Ethan. She was predeceased by her entire Ziegler family and also her husband Thomas in 1966. Starting her life in Red Willow, Alberta on May 18, 1921, Anna (Anne) was born to Chris Ziegler and Sophie Bretz who were married in 1905. She was one of seven children along with Leo, Louis, Charlie, Florence, Jessie, and Roy. She met Tom in December of 1944 where they served in the Canadian Army. They were married on June 22, 1946. Anne had an active life as a volunteer for the Red Cross and was a 40 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion. She loved to bowl, play tennis and badminton, recital dancing and dance with Tom, and later in life (after the passing of Tom in 1966), taking trips to the U.S. casinos with friends and family. Anne enjoyed working part time at Dairy Queen and Grays, always visiting at Rose's hairdresser shop and enjoying the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anne's funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Deer Lodge Foundation, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3 or Canadian Red Cross, 1111 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3G 0S8. Our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff on T6 at the Deer Lodge Centre for all their great care of Mom during her stay on T6.
