DORRAINE HOPKIE It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandma, sister, wife, auntie and friend Dorraine Hopkie, at age 66. Surrounded by her family, she passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg on Sunday, October 25, 2009. Dorraine was born on December 2, 1942. With James they raised their three sons in Winnipeg on Inwood Crescent. They spent all of the summers up at Sandy Lake and were eventually able to retire to the lake in 1996. Dorraine was predeceased by her brother Roger Ogg, and her mother and father Marie and Archie Ogg. Left to cherish so many amazing memories, her husband of 45 years, James of Sandy Lake; her eldest son Shane and his family Nancy, Jack, Kyle, Charlie, Joe of Calgary; her middle son Darrin and his family Melissa, Chelsea, Cody of Halifax; and her youngest son Bryce of Edmonton; her youngest brother Barry Ogg and his wife, and (her best friend) Brenda Ogg and their eldest daughter Jody and her family Scott, Cole and Josh; and their youngest daughter Erin and her family Holden, and Jesse; her late brother's family Roger Ogg, his eldest daughter Tammy and her family Jeff, Tawni, Shai, Jade of Winnipeg, middle daughter Tiffany and Bruce of Winnipeg and youngest son Mark and his family Jodi, Abby and Emily of Winnipeg. She will be remembered in so many ways from her home made buns and cinnamon buns to the fish she caught both on the ice and out on the lake. She spent the first years at Sandy Lake pulling her sons water-skiing and then she spent hundreds of hours watching her grandchildren tubing and skiing. She enjoyed time with her family more than anything else in the world. There was nothing she loved more than sitting on the front deck of the cabin with her family and friends and watching her grandchildren play on the beach, listening to stories being told and retold and enjoying a glass of white wine. Games of crokinole and marbles while sitting in the garage with a warm fire while laughing and watching the competitions intensify was a perfect way to settle in after a family dinner of wonderful dishes including Mom's famous, wild rice, cabbage rolls, sweet and sour meatballs, baked beans and homemade pizza and her ever famous homemade buns. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Adult Emergency Care at the Health Sciences Centre and the staff at Minnedosa Hospital for making Mom's last few days comfortable. A celebration of Dorraine's life will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, Brandon on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Brockie Donovan Funeral Celebrant, Mr. Lawrence McInnes officiating.
