DOUG WILLIS Peacefully in the comfort of his home, with family at his side, Doug Willis passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2009, at the age of 66 years. Doug was predeceased by his father Stewart, mother Alice and brother John. He is survived by his loving wife Arlene; children: Debbie (Shane), Derek (Stacy), Shannon; grandchildren: Rylan, Declan, Alyssa and Aliyah; his sister Elizabeth of Vancouver, BC, and his close companion, Pita. Doug was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather and he was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. He always had the time for his children and taught them so much about talking through any issues that life sometimes would throw their way. His favourite place which held so many special memories was his first home, the camp at Granite Lake, ON. Dad enjoyed taking his evening after dinner cruises around the lake with mom and Pita. Doug and Arlene loved to travel and spent many winters travelling to Florida and to the West Coast, with the most recent trip in 2008 to the mountains of Alberta and British Columbia. The family would sincerely like to thank Dr. F. Salem, Dr. P. Harris, Dr. H. Taylor and Oncology nurse Valerie and her angels, as Dad called them. He loved all of you! Doug said since being diagnosed with cancer three years ago, that this was not to be a battle, but a journey. In keeping with Doug's wishes, cremation has taken place and a reception celebrating his life will take place on Thursday, October 29 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald St. The family requests that donations be made to the Concordia Hospital Foundation, Oncology Unit, 1095 Concordia, Winnipeg, MB R2K 3S8 or to Palliative Care and Hospice Manitoba, N119-2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3. Go rest high on that mountain, for your work on earth is done. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald St. 253-5086
