In later years she returned to school to pursue her dream of nursing, graduating in 1992 from the Northern Nursing Program of Red River College. She worked with various Northern First Nations communities, until returning home to Hollow Water where she became the Community Health Nurse until her illness limited her mobility. She was also a cancer survivor. She will forever be remembered by many as a kind, sensitive, and dedicated woman who took extreme joy in her nursing career, caring for all whose life she touched. Auntie Gloria was a second mother to many of her nieces and nephews, being a role model to all, sharing her life lessons with determination, strong-will, and quick wit.
