Left to mourn his passing and to celebrate his enduring legacy are his wife of 62 years Gladys (nee Dixon), his children Kathy (Jim Barker), Carolyn (Terry Musgrave) and son Frank (Barbara) and his brother Bill. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Shaun (Melinda), Neil (Suzanne), Andrew, Eryn, Craig (Laurissa) and Sharon (Matt). Jim was proud of his great-grandchildren, Steen, Gair, Leif, Kendall, Tyler, Maya, Zoe, and Jackson. His niece Jean and nephews, Jeffrey and David and his many cousins remember him fondly. His sisters-in-law Freda Duggan and Donna Murphy cherish his sense of fun and his love of life and family. Jim was predeceased by his parents Ted and Mary Wynes (nee Blakely), brother Bruce and sister-in-law Dorothy. He was born in Huntsville, Ontario on July 10, 1924 and grew up in Kamsack, SK and Dauphin, MB with his brothers Bill and Bruce. In 1946 he returned to the CNR as a telegrapher and went on to work as a Station Agent, Operator, Dispatcher, Power Controller and, in the final few years until his retirement in 1984, as a Rule Instructor. In retirement, he served for 12 years as a Manitoba Magistrate. Jim was a kind, gentle and considerate soul who was liked and appreciated by everyone he met. Whether it was travelling, gardening, camping, canoeing, fishing or volunteer work, he always threw himself into it wholeheartedly and will be remembered for his zest for life and love of nature. He was, during his years in Dauphin, a devoted member of the Masonic Lodge #68. He was a member of the Dauphin Legion. His family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Deer Lodge Centre who showed such patience, understanding and compassion in caring for him over the past year.
