Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNA GALARNYK Peacefully, in the early morning on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Holy Family Home, Anna Galarnyk, aged 103 years, passed into the Kingdom of God. Anna leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, her son Dr. Ihor Galarnyk (Genya) of Plain, Wisconsin; her loving 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and many relatives in Canada, Ukraine and the USA. She was predeceased by her parents Mikhail and Anna Saviak; brother Vasyl; husband Dmytro 1966; daughter Nadia 1940 and son Nestor 1998 (Carolyne 2009). Born Anna Saviak on November 15, 1905 in Pasichna, (Ivano-Frankivsk), Ukraine, she married Dmytro Galarnyk in February 1923 and gave birth to a daughter and two sons. In 1944, she and Nestor left Ukraine to join her husband and Ihor in Vienna, Austria. In 1948 the entire family left for Canada and briefly settled in Ituna, SK before moving to Winnipeg in November that year. Anna loved gardening, was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for all her grandchildren. She was a member of Sts. Vladimir and Olga Ukrainian Catholic Church and its UCWLC. Our family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Terry Babick for his support in Baba's final years. We ask for prayers for the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate for their constant support over the years and the staff at Holy Family Home on Sacred Heart 2A Ward. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 31 at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Sts. Vladimir and Olga, 115 McGregor St. with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Mitrat M. Buyachok officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anna's memory to Holy Family Home, 165 Aberdeen Ave., Winnipeg, R2W 1T9; Sts.
