Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIVIAN ALEXANDER THOMAS PEARCY Peacefully just six days after his 95th Birthday, Viv passed away at Concordia Place on October 23, 2009. Viv is survived by children Lorne and Joan, grandchildren, Richard (Sarah), Ryan (Andrea), Natalie (Ed), four great-grandchildren, brother Bob (Ann), sister-in-law Audrey Kraushar, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Catherine, beloved wife Kathleen (1982) and son-in-law Gary (2001). He was the oldest living pioneer from Dugald living on the farm until the age of 92. Viv was a farmer and a self employed electrician. After retiring from farming, he got his first real job at the age of 67 working at Wilson Auto Electric, leaving there when Kathleen became ill. Dad had a knack for fixing anything electrical or mechanical. He could often be found with pencil, paper and calculator in hand trying to solve friend and family dilemmas. He would modify, adapt or design new parts to fit the application at hand. He was still repairing alternators etc. for friends and neighbours in his 90s. He was also very interested in any new gadgets; he was the first to introduce the family to digital cameras. Around the age of 85 Dad bought his first computer and became very proficient, he had a PC at the lake and two at home, needed one for back-up! Dad spent many hours at Wendy's, where he enjoyed chatting/ joking with the staff and meeting many friends there. Other than on the farm, Mom and Dad's best times were enjoyed at White Lake. His father Alex built the first cabin there in the 1930s and friends and five generations of family have shared many good times there since. He was a lover of nature and animals; being surrounded his whole life by farm animals and more unusual creatures such as his pet wolf and mud turtle. Dad was very proud of all his family and all the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He was a great inspiration to all of us. A special thank you to all the health care workers over the last three years and especially the wonderful staff at Concordia Place 3rd floor who treated Dad with such compassion and respect. According to Viv's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. Interment of Dad's and Mom's ashes will take place at a future date in Sunnyside Cemetery.
