Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) JORDAN No Stone Left Unturned Peacefully, on Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at the Pine Falls Hospital, William, in his 89th year of life, was called home to rest. Bill is survived by his son William Jordan of Sparwood, BC; two daughters, Shirley Giesbrecht (Henry) of Pine Falls, MB and Arlene Danard (Ed) of Atikokan, ON; six grandchildren, Tim (Donna), Jim (Shelley), Stephen (Selina), Kurt (Nicole), Kimberly (Kevin) and Jodi; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; very special cousin Agnes Ward (90 years) and very dear friends Bill and Verna Eastcott, Ernie and Darlene Cyr and special companion Margaret Boyer and the Squires family. He was predeceased by his loving wife Ina May in 1979 and by his daughter-in-law Carole in 2008. In 1920, Bill was born in Sheffield, England. He came to Canada in 1924 and grew up homesteading near Minetteville, ON. He went to school in Windsor, ON and later settled in Garson, ON. He met and married the love of his life, Ina May in 1940 at Coniston, ON. Bill went from being an only child to having 13 brother and sisters-in-law - the Squires family. He worked as a Class A mechanic and welder throughout Ontario and Northern Manitoba. In 1960, he and his wife moved to Pine Falls where Bill was employed in the Woods Department of the Abitibi Paper Mill until his retirement in 1982. Bill continued to reside in Pine Falls until his passing. His interests included music, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, camping and inventing. Bill was a well-accomplished musician. He was an amateur wrestler and boxer in his younger years. Bill was trained in Judo and instructed the Ontario Provincial Police in their self-defense training. He also instructed the Manitoba Hunter's Safety program for 20 years. Bill served many years on the Pine Falls volunteer Fire Department and was also a longtime member of the Maskwa Snowmobile Club, the Royal Canadian Legion, the R.A.M. and the Masonic Lodge where he received his 60 year bar. Bill was known for his honesty and integrity and most of all his sense of humor. He always had a story and a joke to tell. A funeral service will be held for Bill on Monday, November 2, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the Pine Falls United Church, 5 Walnut Street, Pine Falls, MB. Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Essa and the staff of Pine Falls Hospital for their compassion and care.
