MYLO MARCEL BRU June 28, 1938 October 28, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Mylo Bru on October 28, 2009. Mylo was predeceased by his father, Marcel (Mickey) as well as his first wife, Shirley Palidwor, the mother of his children. Mylo is survived by his long time companion, Bonny, his friend, Germaine, his mother, Claire Bru, as well as his three children, Darrin (Barbara), his children Kelsey, Alexis, and Danielle, Brad (Margaret) and Melinda (Luke) and their son, Joshua, all of whom will miss their father and grandfather very much. He is also survived by his sister, Madeleine Chown (Ned), their children, Douglas, Jennifer (Dan) and their children and Philip. Born in Aulac, NB, Mylo had a varied upbringing as his father was in the army during and after the Second World War. He attended boarding school in England, as well as spending some time at St. Paul's College in Winnipeg. He joined the Tuxedo Police Force as their youngest recruit, and was a proud member of the Winnipeg Police Department for 28 years, a career which he enjoyed and was dedicated to. After retiring from the Police Force he worked as an investigator for the Province of Manitoba for 11 years. He gave back to his community in many other ways. He volunteered for the King George Hospital Polio patients and Chalmers Community Club as a sports coach. In addition to his fulfilled family and professional life, he still found time for his passions: playing for EK Blues Hockey Club, East Elmwood Roadrunners Softball, golfing and photography. He was stricken with Parkinson's in his late sixties and battled for several years against the disorder as it got progressively worse. As much as we will miss him, we know he is at peace now. He will always be remembered for his fighting spirit and charismatic charm. Funeral services will take place at Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. The family would like to thank Riverview Health Centre for their wonderful, compassionate care, as well as Tuxedo Villa. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Riverview Health Centre or the Parkinson Society of Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Bonny, Claire, Maddy and families - I cannot remember a time when Mylo was not a part of my family's life. My first real memory is when our families spent the summer together at Clear Lake in 1952. Mylo used to pin the girls hair, Maddy, me and Vicki, to the clothes line and then raise it up. I also remember Claire taking him down and sitting on him. I will miss Mylo and send my sympathies to all his family. I cannot believe you are the only city charging to put an entry in the guest book!!! - Posted by: Noreen Chambers (Friend) on: Oct 31, 2009
