Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRITA THERESA DOZOIS Surrounded by her loved ones, Rita left this world on October 27, 2009. She fought a brave, hard battle with cancer with determination, grace and dignity and a wee bit of humour. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Stephanie (Robin Lee) and loving grandsons, Chris and Kevin; her sister Louise Love (Bob), her brother Leo (Jean), numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, best friends Ida, Lana, Sandy, Verna, Anne and Evon, and Misericordia Nursing gang, and many friends from Medical Services. She was predeceased by Yvonne and Fred Dozois, brother Maurice, favorite Aunt Lucienne Lefebrve, nephews Patrick Love and Danny Dozois. Rita loved a challenge, she loved adventure and lived her life full of both. She was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on June 7, 1928 and became a Misery Grad in 1956, something she was proud of till the day she died. Rita attended McGill University for her Public Health Nursing, this led to her lengthy career as a public health nursing for the aboriginal people and a love for the north. She worked for Health and Welfare Canada medical services from 1956 to 1988, and taught and coordinated programs for the U. of M. Medical College and St. Boniface and Red River School of Nursing. Her retirement years were filled with visits to the mountains, Calgary and Sylvan Lake to spend time with her family. Rita loved Bridge, gardening and reading. A Celebration of Rita's Life will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Bernadette Parish at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2009, 820 Cottonwood Road with Rev. Fr. C. Fred Olds. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Fontigny and St. Boniface staff of 6A South, Dr. M. Garcia, Dr. Poulin and staff on 3E at Riverview Health Centre and to Juanita Smith. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rita's memory to a charity of your choice.
