GIUSEPPE (JOE) MASI February 26, 1932 October 30, 2009 Peacefully on October 30, 2009 at the St. Boniface General Hospital, Giuseppe Masi beloved husband of Maria passed away at the age of 77 years. Joe was predeceased by his brothers Francesco, Bernardino and brother in law Tommaso. He will be sadly missed by his wife Maria of 52 years, son Tom (Maria), daughter Rose (Phil) and grandchildren Joseph Christopher (Nunziata), Tomas (Jenelle), Robert (Katelyn), Maria and Dominic. He also leaves his brothers Saturno (Giuseppina), Pasquale (Naomi), Raffaele (Carmela); sisters Maria (Andrea), Elvira, Lina (Amerigo); sisters in law Angelina and Angela, uncles, aunts, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Joe was born on February 26, 1932 in Amato, Italy. At the age of 21 he left his country to seek a better life in Argentina in 1953. He married Maria in 1957 and with his wife and son they moved to Winnipeg in 1960 to begin a new life. In 1963 they had their second child (daughter) Rose. Dad worked at Blackwoods Beverages for nine years. In 1970 he moved onto the University of Manitoba as a custodian, as well as developing a part-time trucking business for 16 years. He retired from the University of Manitoba in 1985 and he continued on in the trucking business until 1995. Dad was kind, loving and a caring soul who loved life and spending time with his children, family and friends, and was appreciated by everyone that met him. He enjoyed spending time on his hobby farm growing his vegetable garden and raising chickens. He cherished his grandchildren and all the special times spent with them. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. with viewing being held at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Father Sam Argenziano officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons Chris, Tomas, Robert, Dominic and nephews Ben Ferraro, and David Masi. Interment information will follow in Monday's paper. The family wishes to express special thanks to the Paramedics, the staff at the Grace Hospital Emergency Department, and to the staff at the ICCU Unit at St. Boniface Hospital for all their loving care. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Giuseppe's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a Charity of your Choice.
