RICHARD TAKENAKA With sadness we announce the passing of Richard (Dick) Takenaka on October 28, 2009 after a brief battle with cancer. Dick was predeceased by his parents and two brothers Mitsuo and Isamu. He leaves to mourn his sister Kaye Kusano and brother Jim (Edna) as well as many nieces and nephews. Born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Dick moved to Cloverdale, BC. at an early age and grew up in Kennedy (now N. Delta). With the forced evacuation of 1942 he moved to Manitoba to keep the family together and worked on farms in Portage La Prairie and in St. Vital. In 1949 Dick moved to Beardmore, ON. and eventually operated a pulp camp there. With the decline of the pulp industry, he moved to Thunder Bay where he worked for the Great Lakes Paper Company until his retirement. In 1995 Dick decided to move back to Winnipeg to be near his remaining siblings and to spend his days being re-acquainted with family and old friends. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal service and the family will have a private burial. Flowers and Koden gratefully declined. If so inclined donations may be made to the Manitoba Japanese-Canadian Cultural Centre, 180 McPhillips St., Wpg, MB, R3E 2J9 in his memory. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
