VINCENZO DE LUCA October 29, 1913 - October 31, 2009 Peacefully on October 31, 2009, with his family by his side at the Misericordia Place, our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, age 96, passed to join his beloved Emilia in eternal life. Vincenzo is predeceased by his parents Francesco and Antonia, his four sisters Giuseppina, Pasqualina, Marietta, Adelina, and his two brothers Giovanni and Stano. He leaves to forever cherish his memory his four children Francesco (Assunta), Pasquale (Vittoria), Tony (Felicia) and Peter (Lina). He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren: Vince (Daniela), Rosanna (Brad), Lisa (Alex), Linda, Emilia (Tony), Susan (Rob), Patrizia (Dean), Robert, Alexandria (Amedeo), Carla, Marco (Krystin), Paolo, Fabio (Nadia), Laura (Tonino), 13 great-grandchildren, his sisters-in-law Sestilia and Annina De Luca as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy. Vincenzo was born in Lappano, Cosenza, Italy on October 29, 1913 and immigrated to Canada in 1958 to ensure his family would have a better life. He was a strong willed, independent and family oriented man dedicated to his wife and children. Vincenzo was the pillar to the success of the family business. The values that he instilled in his family will be cherished forever. Nonno had many loves in his life. He was devoted to his Catholic faith and came to the Eucharist every Sunday until his health failed. He loved to ride the bus from Ness and Cavalier to De Luca's on Portage to share a glass of wine and a plate of pasta with many of the customers who became his extended family. He was passionate about his garden and would spend many hours tending to his grape vines, award winning tomatoes and fresh basil. Although he never gave up his love for a plate of homemade pasta, he eventually developed a palate for Canadian cuisine, his two favourites being K.F.C. chicken and Dilly Bars. However, his biggest loves in life were his visits from his children and especially from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He touched the hearts of many and was known as Papa De Luca... to us our beloved Pa' and Nonno. Pallbearers will be Vince De Luca, Marco De Luca, Paolo De Luca, Fabio De Luca, Robert De Luca, Nicholas De Luca-Taronno, Eugenio Principe and Fausto De Luca. The family will receive your condolences at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Father Renato Pasinato Celebrant. Entombment to follow in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley Street. The De Luca family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Misericordia Place and to Father Sam Argenziano who both gave our Nonno great comfort and blessings. Nonno always wanted every child's wish to come true. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations may be made to The Children's Wish Foundation, Manitoba Chapter, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB.
