PAMELA (GILMOUR) FERGUSON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend, Pamela Ferguson, on October 30, 2009 at Bethesda Hospital, in Steinbach, MB, at the age of 86. Pamela is survived by her son David J. Ferguson of Winnipeg, daughters Heather Clark (Peter) of Winnipeg, and Jennifer Cavers (Douglas) of Steinbach; her grandchildren Brenden, Ashlyn, Shaelyn and Cameron; her sister Sylvia Bowers (Jack) of Steveston, and numerous nieces, nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her husband David W. Ferguson earlier this year, her parents John and Pamela Gilmour and her infant sister, Shelagh. Pamela was born in Winnipeg on April 20, 1923 and grew up in Transcona. She started her career with Great West Life Assurance in Winnipeg, then moved to Portage to work at the Portage Residential School. She took courses at university and eventually worked in the University Book Department. In 1956, she married David W. Ferguson and lived on Jamison before moving to their residence on Bronx, where they raised their family. Pamela was a life-long member of the Gordon and then Gordon-King Memorial United Church. She actively lived her faith each day and was committed to caring for others (especially children) and ensuring that they be given a Christian education and upbringing. Her family and friends will remember her interest in nature, painting, poetry, writing, music and religion. Everything that she took an interest in, she would thoroughly research and strive for excellence to achieve. Her life-long friends, knew her passion for her children and grandchildren and their development. She often shared her interests over a Ferguson meal and an evening of entertainment. The family acknowledges with gratitude the caring work that Dr. Reimer, Dr. Krahn and Dr. Harris along with the complete Cancer Care, Palliative Care, Home Care and Bethesda Hospital Staff provided in caring for Mrs. Ferguson. The family appreciates the commitment Bethesda has to patients in need and how the staff addressed her emotional and quality of life requirements along with her health care. The family would also like to thank the numerous and devoted friends and neighbours whose support and caring made the last number of months much easier. There will be a private family interment at Sunnyside Cemetery, followed by a memorial service and reception at Gordon-King Memorial United Church, 127 Cobourg Avenue in Winnipeg. The service will commence on Friday November 6, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to CancerCare Manitoba or Bethesda Foundation in Steinbach.
