Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY PEARL DUNCAN March 31, 1925 October 31, 2009 With sadness we announce the passing of Dorothy Duncan on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Golden Links Lodge. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her sister Mildred, nieces Susan, Carol (Russ), great-nephew Reese, friend Darren, her brother Donald and wife Lil, as well as aunts, cousins and friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her father William in 1985, mother Annie in 1988 and brother-in-law Lewis Fraser in 2004. Dorothy was born in Winnipeg on March 31, 1925. She attended King George School and graduated from Norwood Collegiate. She was employed at the Canadian Wheat Board for 45 years until her retirement in 1989. Dorothy was an animal lover and avid gardener, especially her flowers. In her younger years Dorothy was a Blue Bomber fan and a season ticket holder. She loved to shop, often going with friends and neighbours to the mall. Dorothy liked to travel be it Grand Forks, New York or stays in Fort Meyers, Florida with the family were all to her liking and enjoyment. Some other interests Dorothy enjoyed included music (Dean Martin), going to concerts (many Neil Diamond and Rod Stewart concerts with Carol and Susie). She spent many hours with Carol and Susie as they grew up, taking them swimming, going to Grand Beach, tobogganing in winter time, Sunday afternoon car rides and shopping at Eaton's. Carol and Susie are very thankful for having Dorothy in their lives. She was not only their aunt but a second mother to them, always giving them her endless love and time and continually spoiling them with her generosity. Dorothy also took great delight in spending time with Reese, often looking after him with her sister Millie. We would like to extend a special thank you to family friend, Ginger Palmer for all her assistance. The family would also like to thank those at Golden Links Lodge who truly cared for Dorothy during her stay there, especially Ofelia and Doreen for their kindness and compassion in her final hours. A funeral service celebrating Dorothy's life will be held on Thursday, November 5 at 2:30 p.m. in St. Philip's Anglican Church, 240 Taché Ave. at Eugenie St. (wheelchair access through back lane). Interment will follow at a later date. If friends so desire, donations in Dorothy's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3 or to the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2.
