MARIT A. LOVE (nee SHINETON) December 6, 1913 October 24, 2009 With profound sadness, on October 24, 2009, in her 96th year, our beloved Mum passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside. She was predeceased by her husband, Stewart in April 2000 and her son, Robert William in October 1994, her brothers, John, Edward and Bertil Shineton, her brothers-in-law Gordon, Fred and Bob Love, sisters-in-law Mary Shineton, Helen Love and Jean Love. Lovingly remembered by her daughters, Brenda Parker, Vancouver, Barbara Edmison, Mississauga and Beverly Benwick (Robert) Vancouver, her grandson Darren Edmison (Wendy), Oshawa, her brother Norman Shineton (Marie), McCreary, sister-in-laws Connie Love, Vancouver, Dolly Shineton, Calgary, endearing nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Born on Kinlet Estate, England, Marit moved to Canada with her family in 1929 and settled in Norgate, MB. She worked hard all her life and established a business in Winnipeg where she met Stewart and they married on July 13, 1940. Marit was an integral partner in the family business Love Enterprises Ltd. In early years they resided in River Heights and later Tuxedo. They were members of St. Andrews United Church River Heights and Marit was a lifetime member of the Shrine Ladies Auxiliary and the Daughters of the Nile, Sphinx Temple. Mum was unselfishly devoted to her family and friends. She had an inner strength, a zest for life, a good sense of humour and a colourful personality. She was an inspiration to those who knew her. After Stewart's passing, she moved to the West Coast, residing at Whitecliff a Senior Residence and later Morgan Place Care Facility. She was highly active in these facilities and a worthy Dominos opponent. She loved the mountain vistas and beach drives along the ocean. A special thank you to her companions Kelly Brown, Beverly Wharton, Evelina Irish and Dawn Livingston for their friendship and caring. The family wish to thank the staff at Morgan Place in particular the LPNs and Care Aides in Arden and Bowden for their support, kindness and professionalism. In accordance with Marit's wishes, there will be no service and flowers are gratefully declined. A family interment will take place in Winnipeg. A contribution in her memory may be made to Peace Arch Hospital Foundation, 15521 Russell St., White Rock, BC V4B 2R4. Peace on your journey, Mum, God Bless.
