EILEEN SARAH MCDONALD (nee THICKETT) Peacefully on November 4, 2009, at the age of 88 years, Eileen passed away with her family by her side at the Deer Lodge Centre. Eileen was born June 4, 1921 in the Russell District. She was the youngest of six children. As a young adult, she moved to Port Arthur with her sister Marjorie to work at Canada Car during the war where she met her husband Bruce. They were married in Russell on December 30, 1945 then moved to Winnipeg and raised their two children. Eileen spent many of her summers at the family cottage creating fond memories with her family. She was a much loved wife, mother and grandmother. Eileen was a very caring person who opened her door and took care of everyone she met. Eileen was predeceased by her brother Jim Thickett, sisters Marjorie Roy and Nellie Armstrong. Eileen leaves to mourn her husband of 63 years, Bruce, daughter Pat (Peter) Kowalchuk, son Jim (Connie) McDonald and grandchildren Kevin (Nancy), Trevor (Kristi) and Karyn Kowalchuk, Jared and Nicole McDonald, great-grandchildren Brendan and Samantha Kowalchuk, her brother Bill Thickett and sister Lillian Glasman. A Memorial Service will be held at The Deer Lodge Centre, 2109 Portage Ave., 2nd floor Worship Center on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. The family would like to thank Deer Lodge Centre and Oakview Extendicare for taking such great care of Mom/Grandma during the past six years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society, Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
