JEAN CHUPRUN We are sorry to announce that our mother slipped quietly from her earthly life on November 1, 2009 at the age of 83. Her husband Harold; parents, Margaret and Folliott Baugh; and her brother Scott predeceased Jean. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Linda and son-in-law Rob Rogala and their children, Amanda and Josh; her daughter Karen and son-in-law Aram Babaian and their children, Raffi and Anahid; her dear friend Bill Dutka; her sister Peg Weir; brother Don Baugh; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as her many friends and former co-workers. Mom was born in Saskatchewan and grew up in several small towns as her father's work moved the family to various C.N.R. stations over the years. Upon completing high school, she entered Regina Grey Nun's Hospital, School of Nursing. She made many close friends in nursing school and continued to stay in contact with them and to attend class reunions until only a few years ago. Jean and Harold married after the Second World War in 1948, settling in Regina. After moving to Winnipeg in the early 1950s, she worked at the old Grace Hospital. Once her children were born, Mom left the workforce and made a home where all were welcome. Thirteen years later, she completed the nursing refresher course and was employed at the Misericordia Hospital where she worked for many years in both Emergency and the Operating Room. Her enthusiasm for her work was infectious, inspiring both her daughters to enter the profession of nursing. Mom was devastated when she lost her husband Harold, suddenly and unexpectedly at an early age. Her strength at that time of loss helped us to get through this difficult time. That same strength shone through when Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer (which she beat ) and later when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. She met Bill in 1983 and they became close friends, enjoying many golf games, trips to exotic locales, and lots of enjoyable companionship. Bill's frequent visits while Mom was in West Park Manor gave her strength and were something that she looked forward to. We will miss Mom, but at the same time, are satisfied that she is at peace and now without pain or suffering. Thank you to the staff members of West Park Manor and WeCare for their care over the years that Jean was a resident. Rather than sending flowers, our family would prefer that you remember Jean by making a donation to the Alzheimer's Society or other charity that you feel she would have supported. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
