NORMAN JOHN FRIESEN 1928 - 2009 Norman passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on November 2, 2009 at Riverview Health Centre after a brief illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Gwen Elizabeth, and daughters Helen (William) and Jacqueline (Allan). He is predeceased by his daughter Frances (Robert). He was very proud of his grandchildren William, Michael (Erin) and Kelvin, Winston, Jacob and Amanda, Sarah, Emily and Lauren and great-grandchildren Alexander and Eric. Norm was born in rural Manitoba and attended school in Winnipeg. Norm and Gwen were married in Vancouver where Norm enjoyed a career as a lineman for BC Hydro. The family eventually moved back to Winnipeg where Norm worked in real estate for the remainder of his career. The family cottage in the Whiteshell was always a hub of activity. Norm was an avid fisherman and seldom missed an opportunity to cast a line. He was actively involved in the water-skiing community with his children. Winters found Stormin' Norman on his snowmobile with friends and family. Although he will be sadly missed, he will be fondly remembered for his fighting spirit and charismatic charm. Many thanks to the caring staff at Riverview and to all the generous people who have touched his life. According to his wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date.
