GORDON COLIN CURRIE HATTON March 17, 1948 - November 5, 2009 On Thursday, November 5, 2009, Gordon passed away much to soon with his family by his side at the age of 61 years. Remaining to forever cherish Gordon's memory are his wife of 44 years, Glenda; his children, Tracy (Farouk), Tara (Yiorgos), Chris (Sandra) and Elise; and his grandchildren, Maia, Cleo, Sara, Scott and Eric. He will be sadly missed by his brother Terry and his sister Carla, along with his nieces and nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his son Scott in 1975; his mother Mona; his brother Bruce; and his loyal friend Peri. Born March 17, 1948 in Barrie, Ontario, Gordon and his siblings were raised by their mother Mona in Winnipeg. A graduate of Red River Community College, he started his extensive career in the oil business at Imperial Oil as a sales rep in Swift Current, Brandon and Winnipeg. He went on to have a long and successful business as the Shell agent in Winnipeg. After many years with Shell, Gordon and Glenda, together with their children, started their own business - Oil Mart Ltd. With the support of loyal employees, customers and suppliers, Oil Mart has grown into a business in which Gordon was very proud. Among other things, Gordon was an artist, entrepreneur, fisherman and Dad to many. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour, his good advice, his love of the deal, his generosity, his love for his family and most importantly, his great big heart. For family, friends and strangers alike, it was a pleasure and a joy to have known him. A celebration of Gordon's life will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, 4588 Roblin Blvd. Thank you to those who provided all kinds of support to Gordon and Glenda and their family throughout an often difficult time. A special thank you to Dr. Allan Ronald and Dr. Ralph Wong, who helped give us extra time to spend with Gordon. In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation in Gordon's memory to the charity of their choice.
