KENNETH ANDREW TAKVAM Peacefully with his family by his side Ken passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at the Riverview Health Centre after a brief illness at the age of 75 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Lorraine, his son Reid (Kerry), his daughter Leslie Jewell (Raymond). He was very proud of and cherished by his grandchildren Robert Jewell and Tyler Takvam. He will be deeply missed by his sisters Alphild Cochran, Solveig McMillan and his brother Bob. Ken will be missed by his mother-in-law Audrey Goodman, his in-law family, many nieces and nephews and many friends from Rogan Drive and the town of Carman, MB as well as the Aubin family, as he was loved by all. Ken was predeceased by his mother and father Annitta and Robert, sister Thelma, mother-in-law Gwen Olson, father-in-law Sam Goodman and life long friend Lawrence Aubin. Ken was born on June 23, 1934 in Carman, MB. He moved to Winnipeg in 1955 to start his career with CN Rail and was employed 37 years with the company. He retired in 1991. He met his wife Lorraine at CN Rail in 1955 and they were married on February 26, 1960. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour, his contagious laugh and his love for others. Ken loved spending time with his family in his backyard gardening and swimming. The family would like to thank all the medical staff, nurses, and home care who were wonderful and caring. A special thank you to nurse Val! Also to the many friends and family members who have provided support and love during this difficult time. As per his wishes a cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place. To celebrate Ken's life a reception is being held on Friday, November 13 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Canad Inn Fort Garry, 1824 Pembina Hwy. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
