ADELLA KASHUBA (nee NIKEL) Peacefully on Wednesday, November 11, 2009, our mother, grandmother passed away at the age of 92. She will forever be remembered by her sons, Raymond (Debbie) and Terry (friend Rose) and her grandchildren, Kristin and Ashley. Adella was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1971, parents Karl and Matilda Nikel, brothers, Henry, Harry, Louis, Fred, Ernest, William and sister Martha. Mom was born and raised in Walkleyburg on the family farm. She married Joe in 1952 and moved to East Selkirk to raise their family. She lived the past three and a half years at the Betel Home in Selkirk. Mom loved her games of Bingo, always keeping track of her wins and losses. She had an amazing green thumb and could make any seed or root grow into a beautiful plant. She loved to sew and made most of her own clothing. The family would like to extend their special thanks to the staff of the Betel Home for their kindness and care during the past years. And to the Doctors and Nurses of the Selkirk General Hospital for keeping Mom comfortable in her final days. Prayers will be held on Sunday, November 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 16 at 10:00 a.m. also in the chapel with Minister Virginia Coleman officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Clement's Anglican Cemetery. In her memory, donations can be made to Selkirk Palliative Care Unit, c/o Selkirk General Hospital. Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
