VIOLA SALTER (nee MORRISON) August 12, 1914 - November 9, 2009 On November 9, 2009, at the age of 95, Mom passed away peacefully at Oakview Place. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Marjorie (Jack) Rennie, her son Al (Donna) Salter, her grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Albert in 1986 and her brothers and sisters and their spouses: Lawrence (Erma) Morrison, Russell, John and Wilford Morrison, Gertrude (Jack) Roberts, Lottie (Hugh) Nettleton, Violet (Howard) Wright and Jean (Bert) Fanshaw. Mom was born and raised in Hazelridge, Manitoba and was the youngest and last remaining member of the Morrison family. She grew up on the family farm and after graduating from High School she moved to Winnipeg. She married Dad on June 6, 1934, and they enjoyed almost 52 years of marriage. After both of her children were in school Viola began working for the T. Eaton Company. She was a loyal employee for 25 years retiring in 1979. Mom and Dad loved to travel and enjoyed many wonderful trips to Great Britain and other European countries. Some of her favourite pastimes were reading, doing jigsaw puzzles and listening to music. She was known to be a wonderful cook and she loved to bake for her family. The most important part of her life, and the times she cherished dearly, were those spent with her family and her beloved grandchildren Lisa, Bryan (Rita), Lindsey and Jill. She was devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will always be loved and missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Oakview Place for the care given to our Mother during the past six years. A special thank you to Jim and Joyce Ward for all the visits and treats they brought for Mom. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 4G2 or a charity of your choice. We love you Mom THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com
