ROBERT (BOB) HENRY McCORMICK It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Robert (Bob) Henry McCormick on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Deer Lodge Centre at the age of 87 years. Remaining to forever cherish Bob's memory are his daughter Maureen and husband Bruce McGauley of London, ON; daughter Mary McCormick and fiance Norm Mailhiot of Winnipeg; granddaughter Erin and husband Chris Gooderham of Peterborough; granddaughter Megan McGauley of London; brother George and wife Betty; sister Ann Moore all of Winnipeg, as well as nieces, nephews, friends and special friend Joan Hill of Saskatoon. He was predeceased by his wife Janet; son Alan; grandson Brian McGauley and sister Ellen Fullerton. Bob was a long-time member of A.N.A.F. Veterans #283, Canadian Legion Branch #9, Winnipeg and of the Connaught Lodge AF and AM, Thunder Bay. He was also a member of Crescent-Fort Rouge United Church, Winnipeg. After a 39 year career with the C.N.R., he retired in 1979 in Thunder Bay and later returned with wife Janet to live in Winnipeg. Some of Bob's favourite pastimes were swimming, golfing, curling, cross-country skiing, and paddling his big green cedar-strip canoe at the lake. He frequently visited his grand-daughters who have many fond memories of their Gramps . As a member of A.N.A.F. Veterans #283 Bob enjoyed the club's social activities. Relatives of Uncle Bob will always remember his annual Christmas dinner at Peppers. Bob was an accomplished shortbread baker and his yearly meticulously-prepared batches were always eagerly anticipated by those lucky enough to receive them. A private family funeral service for Bob will be held in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place at a later date in Thunder Bay at Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bob's memory may be made to The Salvation Army, 500 - 55 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 1L8.
