Date of Passing: Nov 08, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMELVIN HENRY WIEBE On Sunday, November 8, 2009, Mel (Max) passed away much too soon at the age of 68. Mel is survived by his partner Lori; his sons, Darrin (Pam) and Randy; grandchildren, Karli, Tanner, and Cody; his three sisters, Orma (Ron), Lynn (Bill), and Connie (Eldon); as well as many other extended family and friends. Mel was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary and his brothers, Bill and Elmer. Mel was born July 2, 1941 in Winkler, Manitoba and was raised in southern Manitoba with his two brothers and three sisters. Mel moved to Winnipeg in his early years and proceeded to pursue a very successful automotive passion and career. Working for dealerships such as Stadium Ford, he gained valuable work experience and relationships that have been with him throughout his life. In taking his automotive experience to MPIC in the early 80's it led Mel to the success he sought. He remained at MPIC until his retirement in 1999. Once retired, his passion was the lake and the RV trips to Mexico, and the US. His retirement years were spent with much relaxation and enjoyment. Sharing his life with Lori and being surrounded with many friends both at the lake and on the road made all the difference in the world to Mel. In the last few months before his passing, Mel fought a courageous battle with cancer and held hope right to the end. The family would like to thank Dr. Van Gand, Dr. Spence, and the staff at CancerCare MB, as well as the nurses and staff at Pinawa Hospital. We would like to say a special thank you to Anita for your kind and compassionate care in the last few hours. Cremation has taken place and in honour of Dad's wishes, no service has been planned. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mel's memory to the charity of one's choice.
